Thread Rolling

Thread rolling is a plastic forming operation. This method is much faster than tapping and threading. Rolled threads are stronger and more fatigue resistant than cut threads. They are also less liable to be affected by abrasion and binding in service.

Cold Coining
Coining is the squeezing of metal while it is confined in a closed set of dies. A workpiece is placed a confined die. A movable punch is located within the die. The action of this punch cold works the material and can form intricate features. This process is used to produce coins, medallions and other similar products on flat stock with relief features. Very fine detail can be reproduced. Pressures is required to generate very fine features.

Extrusion

Extrusion: forcing metal through a die orifice in the same direction as the applied force (forward extrusion) or in the opposite direction (backward extrusion). The process is used on hollow slugs to reduce wall thickness, and to manufacture cans with either cylindrical cavities or cavities with varying cross sections.
